But when I try to access Plex at plex.home.lan I'd still have to put the port number right? For example plex.home.lan:32400? Because I have other services running at the same local IP as Plex how do I differentiate?

Was thinking about trying this out but checked the fcc airwave site and it turns out i only get fox and cbs where I live. Both have weak signals too which is lame. Oh well 😂. Plenty of content on Plex between their ad based content and my own stuff so it's no big deal.

For software releases I can recommend RSS streams. Every Github repo has an RSS feed of the "Releases" section. Some organisations also use their own blogs to post release articles (Like Home Assistant or Jellyfin) which also have RSS feeds. RSS is awesome! P.S. In my reader app I star articles of releases for the versions I'm currently running to quickly see the changes since then

As a watcher and admirer of your proxmox videos, I was surprised to see some of the things that I did not agree with. For example I have been using both Free/Truenas and Unraid for years and wondered how I did some of the things you said were missing. In unraid there are half a dozen apps set up to copy and restore appdata as well as containers/vms etc. I was puzzeled to understand that I must not have been doing it all this time. And hardware pass through is much easier than the go around your butt to get to your elbow method of Proxmox. My plex server on unraid has been happly transcoding using my GPU for years. I am truely at a loss for how you missed this stuff.

Thanks for the tutorial! However, I have a small issue for fancy zone: when I want to put a UA-cam video in full screen while I have defined a specific zone, the video goes full screen on the entire screen instead of just the defined zone. How can I fix this?

TruNAS user since FreeNAS days (circa version 9.2) that's many releases.. I would not trust my data on anything else. Scale especially in later releases is the best open source NAS OS on the market, and puts Multimillion dollar projects to shame.

I can't seem to use the VIP to serve as a dns for some reason. I am pretty sure my keepalived setup is correct. I can ping the VIP and even access the pihole webui through the VIP, but if I try to dig a local domain name with it (dig dns02 @<VIP>), I get "communications error to <VIP>#53: connection refused" Using the same command with either of the piholes' actual addresses works as expected. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks

You should have a metric about learning curve and install hassle. TrueNAS is usually chosen for user like me who downscale my hassle from bare metal Linux. Whereas Unraid is chosen for those who upscale their hassle from AIO NAS boxes.

I’m curious what software you use to draw network diagrams. I’m quite the opposite of an artist so I’d need a hand-holdy type of app. I’m also curious what moved you to deploy kubernetes I used it for a few months and went back to docker as services and Longhorn storage weren’t stable. After a while I got tired of fixing things and went back to a simpler system

Good video Tim! I've been a Unraid user for a few years now and a few of your picks on Unraid like having the driver as a separate plugin to use with the docker for GPU pass though is a good idea that way the driver will get updated on a better time table and will only be installed on the users that need it I run a Intel with the iGPU so I do not want to waste the space for AMD or Nvidia drivers on my install. At the same time when I tried TrueNAS before picking Unraid as my home NAS OS I had lots of confusion with the UI. When I asked basic questions on the forums and the subreddit both communities were very "oh you should have figured this out its pretty easy" where if I have questing with Unraid the cummunty is very helpful. There is a wealth of knowledge form the UA-cam videos for setting up apps and plugins.

I wish you had included the Nginx reverse proxy settings with this one. That's the part I'm mostly struggling with, and I'm unsure if I did it right. Also, in the Wings Docker log, I get the following error: FATAL: failed to configure docker environment error=Error response from daemon: Pool overlaps with other one on this address space Stacktrace: Error response from daemon: Pool overlaps with other one on this address space I'm also using Portainer for easy handling of the containers, and I don't see any networks or pools that have similar settings to the Wings network.

This is a great tool and I have used it quite a bit in the past for specific purposes. As mentioned - be sure to avoid an overly aggressive scanning interval, especially if running this from home. Many sites will block suspected bot scanners - and that is a very bad thing when your home IP is what is being blocked! Running from a cloud instance or through a proxy should at least avoid the problem of getting blocked at home, but it is best to avoid the situation altogether.
